Music is a powerful force in the world, especially in our communities of color where it’s had the ability to bring our people together and lift us up; let our voices be heard whether people wanted us to be heard or not. In recent years, we have seen a surge of talented Black and Brown women in the music industry, many would say we're running the game right now and to that, we would agree. These women have been unapologetically, loudly, and proudly breaking barriers and making a name for themselves in a male-dominated industry. On top of that, showing that there's room for every woman that wants to express herself, in whatever way that may be. In this blog post, we will highlight three Black and Brown women who are making a significant impact on the music scene today and shining their own individual light in a cluster of vibrant stars.


Bbymutha. is a highly talented rapper who has made a name for herself in the music industry.

Hailing from Chattanooga, Tennessee, this mama of four has a unique style that sets her apart

from other artists. Known for her commanding voice, unapologetic lyrics, and unique beats,

Bbymutha is a force to be reckoned with in and out of the booth. One of the things that makes Bbymutha stand out is her raw and honest approach to music. She fearlessly addresses a range of topics that are often considered taboo, including motherhood, sexuality, and mental health. Her music provides a safe space for people who share similar experiences, and she is a beacon of hope for those who may be struggling with these issues. Bbymutha is a true inspiration to underdogs everywhere. In addition to her musical talents, Bbymutha also intentionally works with other underground artists such as herself that she actually has a connection with. This proves even more how authentic and raw she is with her approach to her music, because she isn’t collaborating with anyone just for streams and attention. TiaCorine, a fun and talented rapper and singer from Atlanta, Georgia, has taken the music

industry by storm recently. Her hit single "Lotto" in 2019, which features a sound that's

definitely her own, catapulted her to fame. Her new hit single “FreakyT” off her latest project

“I Can’t Wait” has her name ringing bells even more. Her music, a fusion of hip-hop, pop, and

Black and Brown women are dominating the music industry right now after decades of having to worry about their only being one star while the rest of the women are second best. These talented artists are using their platforms to shed light on their experiences as Black and Brown women, inspire others, and express their uniqueness. By standing so strong in their individuality, they’re also making space for a strong sense of community. More diversity and representation is much needed in this industry, and these ladies are helping to pave the way. It's exciting to witness as we believe Black and Brown women will continue to thrive and demand space and freedom.
